Program
Planning and Evaluation
Rigorous and honest program evaluation helps ensure that nonprofits
are not only reaching program goals, but also staying true
to the organizations' missions. Funders have noted the positive
affect of quality evaluations and are directing nonprofit
organizations to evaluate their programs. This course provides
an overview of how to create effective evaluations that can
be used for program development and grantwriting.
Through this course, students will learn how to:
• identify strategy effectiveness
programmatically and in different communities
• illuminate accomplishments
from specific funding sources
• assess the cost-effectiveness
of different strategies
• position high quality projects
for future funding opportunities
• increase the effectiveness
of project and program management
• contribute to policy development

Instituting the “Platinum” Standard via Sarbanes-Oxley
The public accountability of nonprofits has increased dramatically in the last three years. With the recent high-profile scandals, nonprofit organizations are under significant scrutiny. Nonprofits should leverage proven best practices stemming from Sarbanes-Oxley implementation in the corporate world in order to promote a solid infrastructure and to create a “platinum” standard of operations and governance. Practical tips for leveraging the power and value of SOX requirements within nonprofit organizations will be provided.
