Finding GIS Data
At UIC, learn how to find GIS data using UIC Daley Library's Research Guides (Adobe PDF, 300 K). From Library home page > Research Guides > Search for DATA. Choose "Finding Data and Data Services" and "Geography and GIS". Contact our Map and Data Librarian Becky Lowery to learn more.
The Geospatial Onestop website hosts a variety of GIS data links.
ESRI hosts ArcGIS Online which contains some data that you can use as a basemap. Their "Community Basemaps" maps are available as a backdrop to your work.
For those researchers using data, read the following guidelines for filing a Memo of Understanding (MOU) at UIC.
Make sure you trust the source of your data. Metadata (data documentation) is the key to good data stewardship.
