Welcome From the Director

Dear Prospective Student:

Valerie Werner, Director

The College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs (CUPPA) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) has for the first time brought together the faculty from the graduate departments of Public Administration and Urban Planning and Policy to create a collaborative and dynamic undergraduate bachelor degree program in Urban and Public Affairs (UPA). Through course instruction, service learning and cutting edge research programs CUPPA is working together to build a learning environment that fosters critical thinking, research inquiry with an ethically balanced array of human, social, and environment concerns.

The UPA website is designed to answer your questions but please contact the UPA program with any additional questions. Prospective students are welcome to visit the UPA program if they are in Chicago. UPA staff will assist in arranging visits to classes in session, meetings with current students, and attendance at UPA and CUPPA events during your visit.

Personal appointments for information about our degree program can be arranged by contacting Danielle Cheatom, UPA Program Coordinator, at dcheat2@uic.edu or (312) 413-2565.

The UPA program is located on the University of Illinois at Chicago campus at 412 S. Peoria St. in CUPPA Hall. Peoria is two blocks west of Halsted, and our office building is on the southwest corner of Peoria and Van Buren Streets. Van Buren is just north of the Eisenhower expressway (I-290). When you enter the building, take the elevator to the 3rd floor, Room 315.

Thank you for your interest in the UPA program.

Sincerely,

Valerie Werner
Director
