Career Development in the Urban Planning and Policy Program

UPP encourages students to participate in student activities and join the American Planning Association (APA) as student members. Attendance at local chapter activities as well as the annual APA Conference are great networking opportunities.

An Internship Fair is held annually in the spring to assist students in finding internships as well as provide them with experience in interviewing and showcasing a portfolio of planning work. Information about the Internship Fair will be publicized on the UPP Events webpage and publicized through the student listserv.

The CUPPA Career Center

CUPPA maintains a secure Career Center Website. It is a secure website that is available for all students while registered for classes. Login with UIC netid and password are required to access the site. The Career Center provides job and internship postings as well as links to other career development and job search resources.

UPP encourages students to join the CUPPA Alumni Association after graduation as a way to continue building a network of contacts in the planning and public administration fields. CUPPA alumni provide ongoing support to the UPP program, by speaking in classes, providing internships, and organizing professional development events for current students.
