Group Educational Experience Award

The Urban Planning and Policy (UPP) Group Educational Experience Award is intended to create educational experiences that enhance the experiences of students in the Urban Planning and Policy Program. Appropriate uses for these funds include bringing conferences and speakers to campus, providing workshops for students, or sponsoring group trips. The purpose of these funds is to make opportunities available to the entire UPP program.

Any UPP student may apply. A graduate student is defined, for the purpose of this program, as a currently enrolled, degree-seeking student in the Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Policy, the Master of Urban Planning and Policy, or the Ph.D. in Public Policy Analysis with a Specialization in Urban Planning. Non-degree students, former students, and students enrolled in other programs at UIC are not eligible.

UPP faculty or other organizations such as the CUPPA Alumni Association or Illinois APA may co-sponsor an application. For example, an instructor may propose a field trip related to the topic of the course, but the trip must have a student sponsor and be advertised and open to all students in the program.

The educational objectives of the experience must be clear and the activity must be clearly related to the objectives.

The organization and administration of the event will generally be shared between the proposer and the Urban Planning and Policy Program staff or faculty. Generally, the Urban Planning and Policy Program will pay directly for costs associated with the event.

The Urban Planning and Policy Program attempts to support as many qualified applications as possible; however, awards are contingent upon the availability of funds and quality of the application on the following criteria:

Deadlines

Annual deadlines for submission of applications are:

Applications must be submitted prior to the proposed event. When a deadline date falls on a weekend, the deadline will be the following Monday. Applications submitted after the above deadline dates may not be accepted.
