EZCORP is in search of an experienced Director of Government Affairs to be located in Austin, Texas.
This position provides key representation for EZCORP with legislative and regulatory bodies at the state and local level. The successful candidate will define and implement strategies to strengthen relations with key state and local government officials, enhance the visibility and stature of the company among relevant policy and opinion leaders, and constructively influence state and local actions and policies that impact EZCORP’s businesses.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Provide dynamic state and local government representation for EZCORP.
* Effective leadership and management of external contract lobbyists .
* Work with the General Counsel to develop and execute a state and local government affairs strategy focused on high priority issues aligned with EZCORP’s key business objectives.
* Track, manage and influence legislative developments of importance to company operations.
* Identify, monitor, and coordinate key policy and reputation issues in geographic areas where we operate.
* Develop & maintain influential relationships with key state and local officials and opinion leaders in geographic areas where we operate
* Manage EZCORP’s relationships with, and provide direction to, relevant trade associations.
* Work effectively with allies in the business community and other sectors to achieve successful government affairs outcomes on matters of priority interest to EZCORP!
* Manages PAC including reports to members, managing contributions from members, and distribution to candidates / campaigns
Job Requirements
EDUCATION: Minimum of a Bachelors degree required; advanced degree in a related field is preferred
EXPERIENCE (and other qualifications):
* Five years in a key state government affairs role with a Fortune 500 company or major trade association
* Experience working in legislative and/or executive branches of state or local government is desirable
* Excellent writing, verbal and presentation abilities
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Impeccable reputation for adherence to high ethical standards
* Willingness and ability to travel extensively
