LISC, Program Coordinator, Grants and Contracts Management Department

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) is a national non-profit intermediary that provides financial and technical assistance to community-based organizations, public agencies and private (for-profit) entities focused on the redevelopment of urban neighborhoods and rural communities. The organization works in metropolitan areas throughout the nation to assist its various partners in the development of affordable multi-family and senior housing, homeownership opportunities, commercial enterprises, community facilities and various community building programs such as employment, day care, health care, open space and national service.

About the Grants and Contracts Management Team
LISC’s Grants and Contracts Management (GCM) Department is a close-knit 10 person team responsible for effectively managing government and private funds, including subagreements with community organizations and consultants to carry out the corporate goal of creating healthy, sustainable communities throughout the country.  The Department works with LISC’s 30 local offices and rural program in 77 communities as well as with community partners to carry out this mission.  GCM team members are encouraged to take on projects which encourage their leadership and growth and promote strong business practices.

About the Program Coordinator Position
The Program Coordinator position is primarily responsible for partnering with LISC local offices and national programs to develop funding applications, workplans and other program reporting and contribute to the GCM team’s efforts in building corporate best practices around federal funds management.  Specific work will include:

  • Identifying new government funding opportunities and coordinate applications to federal agencies for new grants funds;
  • Spearhead the internal Request for Proposals processes;
  • Work in partnership with LISC local offices and national programs throughout the country to prepare required work plans and workplan budgets, amendments and program reports (including quarterly, annual, closeout and activity reports for draw downs) consistent with federal contract compliance requirements;
  • Coordinate startup and closeout phases for all federal contracts. 
  • Monitor use of funds by reviewing grant requests in accordance with field office division to make sure there is consistency with contract terms, OMB regulations, and work plans. 
  • Provide technical assistance and training to field offices in federal contract requirements and strategic administration of government funding;
  • Develop training segments/information materials and present at/participate in training sessions for LISC staff and CDCs receiving government funds;
  • Conduct site visits to local LISC sites and funded CDCs as is necessary to ensure compliance with grant requirements;
  • Provide other assistance as may be required for internal (interdepartmental) LISC projects and for special federal reporting requirements.

 

Qualifications and Skills:Master's degree required;Highly organized, detail oriented, strategic thinker with excellent writing skills;Knowledge of the community development industry preferred;Minimum 3-5 years of experience in administering federal contracts - knowledge of HOME and CHDO TA programs a plus; Solid knowledge of federal government contract regulations, including federal OMB Circulars;Strong financial acumen and experience in developing, managing and adjusting contract budgets as well as individual workplan budgets;Experience in leading and/or participating as a member in project teams;Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining professional relationships both internally and externally (e.g., community organizations, consultants and funders);Demonstrated experience making presentations and conducting training events for a diverse range of public and nonprofit partners;Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and online and library research;Travel approximately 10 to 20 percent of the time; and  This position is based in NYC.LISC offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits.For consideration, please forward a cover letter and resume to:Maggie SlaneVice President, Grants and Contracts ManagementLISC501 Seventh Avenue, 7th floorNew York, NY 10018mslane@lisc.orgLISC IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
