Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC)

POSITION TITLE: Transportation Systems Planner

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITITIES

* Proficiency in basic math skills and English grammar
* Demonstrated abilities in use of spreadsheets, database management, geographic information systems, word processing and communications software & PC equipment
* Written and verbal communications skills
* Problem solving and time management skills
* Ability to work well as a team member
* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
* Working knowledge of regional planning concepts
* Degree in urban planning or related field, and experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ANTICIPATED DUTIES

* Develop and maintain an operations-oriented planning and programming process that remains compliant and embedded in the transportation planning process
* Maintain the congestion management process and the regional Intelligent Transportation System Architecture, and update ITS database
* Establish transportation system management and travel demand management strategies

· Use crash data to identify locations where projects can access federal safety funds

ANTICIPATED POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full-time – Professional (B)


SALARY / WAGE PARAMETERS: Salary: $32,148 – 34,559 (Depending on Qualifications)
