Objectives
1. To provide opportunities for cultural activities and research that document and analyze the scope of African-American contributions to American societies and to the world.
2. To expose African-American students and students of other ethnic groups to the cultural contributions of and about African-Americans.
3. To provide cultural and educational programming in conjunction with community institutions and broader elements of the music, literary, and arts community.
4. To enhance the quality of life at the University of Illinois for African-American students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
5. To improve the communication between African-American students, faculty, staff, administrators, and alumni and the larger university community.
6. To expand learning opportunities for African-Americans.
7. To promote retention of African-American students through enhancing a sense of belonging.
8. To expand extra-curricular professional development opportunities.

for reciprocal service relationships between students and the
