V. Kay McCrimon

Kay James McCrimon is a native of Vicksburg, MS, but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Kay’s affinity for African American history has led her to a myriad of professional opportunities, including research and teaching. Most recently she is the Museum Educator at the UIC African American Cultural Center in Chicago. A product of the Chicago Public School system, Kay is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio/Television and a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication and Media Arts. In addition, she is a graduate of Roosevelt University in Chicago, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Marketing. Her career path has exposed her to positions in genetic medicine, broadcasting, advertising and special event planning. Her research interests include, but are not limited to, African Americans in the fine arts, especially the 19th and early 20th centuries. She is an avid jazz and sports fan and spends her spare time creating avenues for disseminating African American history, as is evidenced by her FB blog, “If You Don’t Know, Now You Know!”
