Network Operations Group The Network
Operations group runs the Network Operations Desk, in room LL55, in the
basement of BGRC. The desk is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please
report any network outages, problems or ACCC server downtime, suspected,
alleged or real, to the Network Operations Desk by calling (312) 413-8080
anytime. The group
is charged with monitoring the campus backbone, ACCC's connections to
the Commodity Internet, the Internet2 and other networks, the terminal
servers, dial-up lines, routers, and most of ACCC's servers. Network Operations
also handles a number of production jobs, tape backups, ACCC printers,
and can assist walk-in users with account creation and password problems. REACH: Residence Experts Group REACH is
a group of departmental members willing to advise their colleagues on
computer matters. Members may
be staff, faculty or students assigned for computer support by their department
heads, or they may be volunteers committed to help others in their departments. A listing,
by department, of REACH members and those who can appoint them can be
obtained online at: www.uic.edu/htbin/cgiwrap/bin/webpbrw/liaison/data REACH members
also serve as liaisons with ACCC, keeping close contact with ACCC staff
and providing feedback to ACCC on services and needs of the departments. They have access to a private Listserv list, to ask other REACH members and ACCC staff members for advice. |
