Student Computing

Accounts & UIC NetIDs > Finding Your NetID

Students are automatically assigned netids when they register. Your netid is your unique name for computing services here at the university.

By convention, students netids are of the form "fnnnnn##", where "f" is the first letter of your first name, "nnnnn" are the first five letters of your last name, and "##" is a number, from "1" and up to ensure that the netid is unique, e.g. jstude1.

A network ID, or netid, is a public identifier used to identify yourself for network services; among other things, a netid is part of your UIC email address and is used to log into ACCC computers and ACCC Dialin Servers.

Once a netid is assigned, it is automatically added to the Online Phonebook.
A netid is not a password. It is not an account, itself, but you need one to get an account.

To find your netid you should look in the Online Phonebook. The Online Phonebook is available on the Web at:

www.accc.uic.edu/searchUIC.html

When you are added to a Blackboard course site you netid is automatically looked up in the Online Phonebook.

Once found, a Blackboard account is created and you are added to the instructor's course site.

Once the search is finished, you should see your netid.

If your netid is not found, you will not be able to create a computer account.

If so, please contact the ACCC Client Services Office at 312-413-0003, consult@uic.edu, or stop by the CSO in room 2267 SEL, or 181 BGRC.
