Changing to Your ISP's SMTP Server

ACCC is closing its open mail relays. If you use an ISP from home or when you're travelling, it's crucial that your mail program does not use the ACCC regular SMTP servers for outgoing mail, even inadvertantly. These Web pages will help you set your email configuration to use your ISP's SMTP servers.

But you also have the choice of using the ACCC's authenticated SMTP server, mail.uic.edu. It has the advantage that it can be used on campus or off. It has the disadvantage that it's somewhat complicated to set up. See Using the mail.uic.edu Authenticated SMTP Server.
