Notes IDs expire a year after the date the were issued. This procedure only
applies if you use Lotus Notes via the the Lotus Notes Client, not if you access
Notes applications from the Web.
Follow this steps to renew your account. You may be asked to enter your password
at different times during these steps:
- Start your Notes client
- Got to the File menu, select Security then User Security
- Enter your password when prompted
- When the User Security screen comes up, click on Renew
- Click on Export ID. You will be prompted to save the safe
copy of the ID file on your machine. For the name of the file, change it to
xxxxxxSAFE, where xxxxxxxx is your netid.
- Click on Do Not Continue.
- You can close all Notes related windows now.
- Using your regular email account and software, send this file as an attachment to notesadmin@uic.edu.
You may need to upload the file to tigger or icarus if you are not using a
PC based email package like eudora
When you receive your renewed, safe ID back, follow these steps:
- Start your Notes client
- Got to the File menu, select Security then User Security
- Click on Your Identity
- Click on Your Certificates
- Click on Get Certificates and select Import(Merge) Notes Certificates. You will need to find the xxxxxSAFE
file that was sent back to you. Select it and click on Open.
- Close all windows. Your ID should now be renewed.
