- A UIC student and a former student were victims of an early morning robbery Friday in the 1300 block of West Flournoy Street. At about 2:30 a.m., the two victims were approached by two offenders who demanded money, then displayed handguns, forced the victims face-down to the sidewalk and took a purse from one of the victims. Neither victim was injured. The offenders, described only as male blacks, escaped in an unknown direction.
Anyone with information is asked to call Chicago Police Area 4 detectives at (312) 746-8253 or the UIC Police at (312) 996-2830. UIC Police will be involved with CPD in the investigation through the Joint Robbery Task Force.
*** This crime fits a pattern of similar crimes in the area, although police have not determined that the crimes are related. UIC Police advise people to use due caution in the Lexington/Flournoy area between midnight and daybreak.
*** UIC Police strongly recommend complying with an armed offender's demand for property or valuables, but resisting a demand to enter a vehicle.
