- MESSAGE FROM THE UIC POLICE
Early Friday morning at 3 a.m., two UIC students were robbed near campus. The students, a male and a female, were walking near the corner of Taylor and Throop when they were approached by two offenders who displayed a handgun. The students surrendered their property and the offenders fled on foot. Neither student was injured.
UIC Police strongly recommend complying with an armed offender's demand for property or valuables, as the victims did in this case. Other security tips:
--be aware of your surroundings --try to travel in groups after dark --use well-lit walkways --on campus, look for the location of the nearest emergency call box (there are more than 700 across campus) --the emergency number for UIC Police is 996-HELP (4357).
The crime will be investigated by the UICPD/CPD Joint Robbery Task Force and CPD Area Four Detectives.
Anyone with information is asked to call UIC Police at (312) 996-2830.

- MESSAGE FROM THE UIC POLICE DEPARTMENT
Monday night just after 11 p.m., UIC Police responded with Chicago Police to two strong-arm robberies near campus that were called in to 911.
One was in the 800 block of south Loomis; the other a few blocks away in the 1200 block of west Roosevelt. In each case, a UIC student was the victim, and each sustained minor injuries as a result of being struck in the face.
The offenders in each case were described as four to five black male juveniles, and police believe the same group of offenders was involved. In one instance the victim was struck as the offenders were passing by; in the other, one offender asked for change as another struck from behind.
These offenses will be investigated by the UICPD/CPD Joint Robbery Task Force and CPD Area Four Detectives.
Anyone with information is asked to call UIC Police at (312) 996-2830.
UIC Police strongly recommend:
