Infant Care at UIC: We Need Your Help

Mar 31 2006 - UIC is conducting an assessment to determine the need faculty, staff, and students have for infant and toddler care services on campus. The assessment is being conducted by Bright Horizons, Inc. and is sponsored by Student Affairs, Women in Science and Engineering System Transformation (WISEST), and the Deans.

You are invited and encouraged to complete the survey, regardless of whether or not you have children. In addition to assessing the feasibility of offering infant and toddler care on campus, the survey will provide vital information about the impact child care issues have on UIC faculty, staff, and students. The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete for those with no young children and 20-25 minutes for parents with young children. The survey is completely anonymous; no names or individual identifiers are associated with the responses. There is no tracking of individual respondents and only group data will be reported. Respondents are encouraged to be as open as possible. Please participate by accessing the survey at: http://www.edatastar.com/uic

If you have difficulty accessing the link though the email, please cut and paste the URL into your browser.

Thank you in advance for providing this important information. Best regards, R.M. Tanner, Ph.D. Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs B. Henley, Ph.D. Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Message Sizes Added to Webmail

Mar 28 2006 - There have been an increasing number of problems, with people having mailboxes, particularly the INBOX, so large that webmail can no longer display them in a reasonable time frame. To this end we have added a Size column to the Webmail display. Users can now see the size of each message, and sort by size to find their largest messages.

A large message can roughly be defined as one which is 1M or over. They are generally a message with a large file attached.

If you do not wish to delete your large messages, we recommend creating a separate folder, or even multiple folders to store them, and move each message to the appropriate folder(s), after you have received and read it. This allows your INBOX to be smaller, and for you to perform webmail operations faster.
