Mar 31 2008 - UICalendar and the Master LDAP server are being brought down, 7pm Monday 31st March 2008.

They will hopefully be back up in one hours time.

Mar 26 2008 - The ACCC lab in 1-444 LIB will be closed during Spring Break so that the hardware can be upgraded. Please use another lab during this time. ACCC labs in SEL, SSB SRC and BGRC (west side) are open during the break.

Mar 25 2008 - There are currently residual problems with Blackboard that are currently being addressed by Blackboard system administrators: posting to discussion boards, grade submission and other database errors. (11:25 AM 3/25)

Mar 25 2008 - We will be performing maintenance work on the Exchange server at 6pm on Thursday, March 27, 2008. The work will complete at 8am Friday, March 28, 2008. A selected group of users will be affected and email notification has been sent.

Mar 24 2008 - Our blackboard server was hit by hardware errors and our system administrators worked overnight in consultation with technical support from Oracle Inc. to recover our system. We deployed our remote database replica but we are still running consistency checks on its data so unfortunately we expect Blackboard to be down much of the daytime today (Monday 3/24)

Mar 24 2008 - Blackboard has been repaired. It is up and running as of approximately noon on Mon Mar 24. Thank you for your patience.

Mar 23 2008 - Exchange maintenance affects users in Storage Group 1 - Unlimited users. The database is offline and being checked for errors. A full backup was done prior to the check, and the check began at 10PM on 3/22/08. It will take several hours to complete, and as of 2AM it is still running fixes on the database.

At 8AM, the status will be reevaulated, and an update will appear here to show the status. The repair may run several hours later, however, with SG1 unlimited users only restored access in the evening of Sunday, 3/23/08.

Mar 23 2008 - Blackboard will be down Sunday 3/23 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM for hardware maintenance.

Mar 23 2008 - Blackboard was down Sunday 3/23 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for maintenance. Our scheduled downtime ended at 11:00 AM but we encountered problems which made the work take more time than expected. Blackboard service is up and running now as usual with no changes visible, but behind the scenes we upgraded network storage hardware on the primary database host

Mar 23 2008 - Blackboard logins are failing starting today Sunday 3/23 at around 6:00 PM. There is a problem with the database. The system administrators are investigating.

Mar 23 2008 - Blackboard is currently unavailable. Blackboard system administrators are working on the problem and will post updates as information about the extent of downtime will becomes available.

Mar 20 2008 - 8PM on 3/21/08. - Planned system downtime for exchange. ACCC's Exchange system will be taken offline so that the Information Store can be checked for integrity and to do various disk tasks (SAN defrag may be done time permitting). System is planned to be back online by 8AM on 3/22/08. If additional maintenance must be performed, a window will be used from 8PM on 3/22/08 until 8AM on 3/23/08.

Mar 17 2008 - Exchange Server uic-cc-xbe1 will undergo maintenance. Each storage group will be dismounted one at a time so that a new transaction log drive can be used. The storage group will be remounted after the move.

Affected users will be unable to use exchange when their particular storage group is dismounted. This should not affect any one user for longer than 2 hours, starting from whenever their particular storage group is dismounted.

Maintenance window will begin at 9PM on 3/17/08, and ends at 8AM on 3/18/08.

Mar 15 2008 - UIC does not require you to verify your email periodically, and we will never ask for your password to be included in an email. These messages are hoaxes, and generally don't even have a @uic.edu address to respond to.

Please simply delete them.

Mar 05 2008 - We're having an issue with one of our spam filtering rules (since Sunday evening). We're working on resolving this problem. Greylisting was inadvertently disabled on Monday morning - it's been reenabled again as of this morning (March 5, 2008).

Mar 04 2008 - The ACCC Exchange server is temporarily unavailable. We expect this mail service to be available fairly soon this morning. We apologize for this service outage.

Mar 03 2008 - Webmail is down. We're working on it.

Mar 03 2008 - The Webmail problem affecting mailserv logins was resolved around 08:45. We apologize for the inconvenience this problem may have caused. ACCC

Mar 03 2008 - As of Feb 5, 2008, ACCC noticed that some PDF files were either not printing correctly or failing. Some PDF files are causing 49.XXXX Errors or will cause the printer to freeze.

We have contacted the printer manufacturer and this is a known issue that affects all of the HP printers in our labs. HP does not have a solution for the problem at this time.

ACCC is working hard to resolve this issue. We are troubleshooting through extensive testing to find the best solution. At this point, we do not have an exact timeline as to when HP will fix the problem.

Until a fix is developed, your PDF files may not print correctly (although many PDFs do print correctly). If you experience the 49.XXXX error let the consultant know and submit your cover page for a refund (on the cover page, please write the URL(or link) of the file).

Mar 02 2008 - Blackboard service was down Sunday March 2 from 7:15 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. We enlarged filesystems.

Mar 02 2008 - RealMedia service will be down for maintenance Sunday March 2 from 10:00 A.M. to noon. We will be enlarging filesystems. A few Blackboard courses link to streaming media clips served by this system so they will be affected.

Mar 02 2008 - RealMedia service is broken because of a hardware problem. Access to streaming media from our RealMedia server will fail. A few Blackboard courses make use of streaming media clips which are served by our RealMedia server: Blackboard users will not be able to play these media clips. We expect to have this repaired tomorrow morning.

Mar 02 2008 - RealMedia service has been repaired. It was broken Sunday March 2 from approximately 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM. During the outage access to streaming media from our RealMedia server would have failed. A few Blackboard courses contain links to media clips served by our RealMedia server and those media clips would have been inaccessable. The problem was caused by a disk storage unit which reported incorrect device information during a maintenance operation.
