What is Search Blackboard?
Search Blackboard (Search LX™) empowers users to perform full-text searches of all content in courses in which they are members and have access rights to. The application searches all types of uploaded files, including DOC, PDF, and HTML, and respects user access rights.
Find course content fast
Blackboard Search is the fastest way to find course content. Rather than spending time traversing countless levels of folders, users can enter keywords or phrases, search all of a course’s content, and see the search results in seconds.
Build advanced search queries
When more specific queries are needed, users can create advanced searches based on multiple criteria to obtain exact results. Queries can use Boolean logic, target selected courses, or be narrowed by file type
Boost productivity
Instructors and students locate online materials with greater efficiency using Blackboard Search. The application integrates with both course and community sites, allowing users the convenience of initiating searches from a variety of locations. Blackboard Search also can be customized to search additional content repositories — creating a unified point of access to all of an institution’s content.

Q: Will students who are not in my course be able to search my content?
No. Only individuals who have access to your course will be able to view your materials from a search result.
Q: Can I search for only documents from a specific class?
Yes. Assuming you have access to that course select the course name from the drop down menu and run your search for that document.
Q: Can I search for specific types of documents?
Yes. Click on the advanced tab on the right hand side and indicate what type of document you are searching for as well as for which course(s).
