ACCC WebDisks - Posting Webpages

Say goodbye to FTP!

Creating and uploading websites is easier than ever thanks to the Blackboard Content System (BCS)! To get started log in to the system using the web client:

From your web browser please visit:

http://webdisks.uic.edu

and login using your netid as your username and your ACCC common password as your password.

You will be brought into the blackboard interface where you will see the main "My UIC" tab, as well as a series of other tabs and links. Click on the tab labeled "Content System" in order to enter the ACCC WebDisk environment.

Create a folder for the site that you wish to publish

Once logged in to the WebDisk system you will see all the files that you have uploaded and folders that you already have created. To get started click on the link labeled "Add Folder" and create a new folder - for this example we will call our folder "website". After our folder has been created we can click on the link labeled "Modify" next to the folder in order to grant "world readable" permissions to this folder. In the subsequent interface you will be presented with a series of links and buttons. There is a drop down box on the right hand side of the screen that allows you to share the file with other subsets of users; click on that drop down menu and choose "Public".

After you have set the permissions on this file you can now click on the link to the folder and begin uploading your pages by using the "Add File" link. Upload your HTML pages as you normally would, including your image files. In this example the page would be publicly available from the URL:
