If you are using the windows Vista Operating system, you will need to disable the User Access Control ('UAC') feature or many installations will not work properly. Follow these steps to disable UAC:
  • Click on the Start button on Windows
  • In the search box in the Start menu, type msconfi and hit enter
  • Click on the Tools tab in the window that pops up
  • Scroll down to the tool named "Disable UAC", click on it, then press that Launch button
  • Restart your computer

If you would like to enable UAC for any reason, you can do that through what is essentially the same process. The only difference is that you need to select the "Enable UAC" tool of "Disable UAC in step 4.
