Mobile Devices - iPhone

General Information

ACCC offers ActiveSync capabilities with its Exchange Server 2003 configuration. This allows mobile devices that use ActiveSync technology to connect to and receive updates using PUSH technology.
iPhone (OS 2.0 and greater required)

Please note: We do not provide support for these devices. These instructions are provided as a courtesy for our users. It is recommended you perform a backup/sync with your iTunes application prior to performing this setup.

For Original iPhone users, you must have the latest version of the iPhone OS installed in order to use Exchange functionality. Please note that this will only sync Mail, Contacts and Calendars. All Notes, To Do lists and any other items will NOT be synced. This process should also work for iPod Touch users who have the upgraded applications and 2.0 iPod Touch software. You do not need a VPN client when using the iPhone on Exchange.

We utilize a pre-built configuration file that had the Exchange settings pre-entered. This file will require you to enter your email, netid and password only. See the instructions below.

  1. Pre-setup: Ensure you have performed a sync/backup with your iTunes.
  2. From your iPhone, click the following link to install the
    Exchange Configuration file: Exchange iPhone Config File.
  3. When the configuration file loads, you will be presented with a screen like this. Click install.

  4. You will then need to click Install Now on the popup window that appears, as shown below

  5. You will then be asked to enter three things. Click Next after entering each one:
    1. Email: netid@uic.edu
    2. Username: ad\netid - YOU MUST PUT THE AD\ PRIOR TO YOUR NETID (see below)
    3. Password: ACCC Common Password
  6. You will then see that the profile has been installed.

  7. Enter the Mail application and select UIC Exchange
  8. Enjoy your UIC Exchange Mail on your iPhone.
