Mysql Databases

We now host local mysql database servers for users, departments or other campus groups. If you'd like to know more about mysql databases, you can read more on the mysql website at www.mysql.com.

If you already have a mysql database, you might be looking for the utility to manage your database and accounts. That can be found at:
https://ness2.uic.edu/perl/password/bluestem/pass.cgi?dispatch=mysql.

For your mysql databases, you can also use "phpmyadmin", a web utility for managing mysql databases, which can be found at :
https://www.uic.edu/apps/phpmyadmin

If you would like a new mysql database, just email us at accounts@uic.edu. We will create the database for you and give you a few user accounts for it, which you'll be able to manage using the utility link above.

In your request, please indicate what kind of usage you intend, and what disk space requirements you forsee needing. We can normally accommodate small to medium sized databases without any problems, but we may need to account for larger databases with special hardware or setup scenarios.
