Network Operations

The Network Operations Staff is dedicated to providing quality service to our clients. If you have questions outside of these areas, we will refer you to the Client Services Office of the ACCC Computer Center.

Our services are available for walk-in, phone, or email clients.

Hours:
  Network Operations is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
 
     
Mainframe Services:
 
  • Monitor System performance and manage resources.
  • Batch Job Processing.
  • Production job processing.
  • Tape library management.
  • System backup and recovery.

Network Monitoring:
 
  • Monitor and maintain campus network backbone and external networks.
  • Monitor, and trouble shoot terminal servers, dialup lines, and routers.
  • Assist clients with problems concerning campus network connections.

Unix Platforms:
 
  • Monitor system performance and manage resources.
  • Monitor and manage print queues.
  • Run weekly and daily backups of all ACCC unix machines.

Printer Services:
 
  • Maintain computer center owned printers. This will be limited to the printers that are currently installed in the computer center labs.
  • Shuttle printed output for clients who print at the GRCPS location.
  • Contact for vendor supplied services.

Client Interface:
 
    Account Creation:
    We encourage clients to create their accounts automatically, however, we will assist when problems arise.
    Password Verification:
    We will only change passwords for clients that come to BGRC LL55 with a UIC I-card. For security purposes, passwords are not changed over the telephone.
    Building Access:
    We assist in the filling out of building access cards for clients that need to access the BGRC computer labs after hours and on weekends. Please note that we ONLY ASSIST in the creation of the information needed to gain after hours access to BGRC. Any questions concerning building access authorization should be directed to 996-3334.
