Printing from the Macintosh

There are two ways to set up network printing on a Macintosh. Appletalk
is easier to set up, but LPR is more widely supported.

Printing with Appletalk
|
| |
- Pull down the Apple menu and select Control Panel.
- If you are using MacOS 7.5.2 or below, select Network. If you are
using MacOS 7.5.3 or above, select Appletalk.
- Check to see that Connect via: Ethernet is selected.
- Open the Chooser from the Apple menu and select the print driver.
Postscript printers generally use Laserwriter 8 or an HP print driver that
is available from the Hewlett-Packard Web site at: http://www.hp.com/
- If you can see multiple Appletalk zones in the left-hand menu, select
the one on which your printer resides. If you can see only one zone, your
printer appears in the top right-hand window of the Chooser.
- Select your printer in the top right-hand window of the Chooser.
- Click on the Setup... button if you want to change your default
printer settings.
- Close the Chooser. You should now be able to print to the network
printer.

double-click the printer icon named Generic or click the Change button next to it and select a custom PPD file.
- In the Internet Printer section, you can either double-click the
printer icon named <> or click the Change button next to it to enter the printer's IP address and print queue name.
Click the Verify button to confirm that you have typed your IP
address correctly.
- Save the printer setup by selecting Save from the File menu. You
