Network Printing with Novell

Instead of having print jobs go straight from the PC or Mac to the printer, you could have them all go to a central holding area (a queue), where they wait for the printer to become available. Using a print queue is a very efficient method for a busy printing environment. This gives you the ability to manage print jobs, including deleting jobs, rearranging them, holding the queue while the printer is being serviced or is jammed, or even limiting jobs by certain criteria.

A Novell queue is an intermediate holding area; the printer must still be attached to the network through one of the methods listed on the server set up page (although using a PC as the print server is not recommended in this case, as it makes the setup somewhat more difficult).

To print to a Novell queue or manage a Novell queue, you will need to have the Novell Client installed on your machine (works for both PCs and Macs). Additionally, you will need a Novell server to host the queue. The ACCC hosts print queues on its Novell Servers; it's a service included with Novell services offered to departments, which is called Server Services. We can also set up your print server to receive print jobs from Novell servers, if you use an M202 or an HP card. To read more about Server Services, pricing, and options, see our Server Services web page.
