Pocket PC-Specific Odyssey Questions

Question 1.1 How can I tell whether I'm connected?

  • The Odyssey sailboat at the bottom of the Today screen will be
    • blue if you're connected,
    • clear if you're not, and
    • red if your authentication failed.

Question 1.2 I'm installing Odyssey for Pocket PC's and the Windows Push to Device is complaining that Odyssey is running and it can't turn it off. What do I do?

  • First try rebooting and then try pushing the software as soon as your Pocket PC finishes rebooting.
  • If that doesn't work, here's how to turn Odyssey off:
    • Start-> Settings -> Systems tab -> Memory icon -> Running Programs tab -> touch Odyssey Client -> Stop.
    • That won't do it, but if you then touch the End Task button, it will close Odyssey.
    • Touch OK to close the screen.

Question 1.3 How do I start Odyssey?

  • Start -> touch the Odyssey sailboat at the top of the Start menu.

Question 1.4 Odyssey just won't work for me. What's wrong?

Three things to check.

  1. Is the date on your Pocket PC correct? The Odyssey license checks the date and if it isn't within the span of our license, it won't work.
  2. Is your wireless card on Funk Software's lists of compatible cards? Did you install the drivers? (See Get a Supported Wireless Card for Your Pocket PC and Install and Configure It.)
  3. There are two things you have to set on the Pocket PC before Odyssey wireless will work; they're described in the Odyssey for Pocket PC install Web page, in the same section as above.
