    Rebooting Echo360/UICast servers at 10PM Tuesday (1 update) [resolved]

    The Echo360/UICast servers will be rebooted at 10PM today (Tuesday, May 15th) to resolve an issue with server backup processes. Estimated downtime is 5-10 minutes.

    Our ADSM servers have currently reached the threshold of their operating capacity. We are currently looking to different ways to deal with this problem in the near term. A new tape library for increased backup capacity has been ordered and will be the ultimate solution for this problem.

    An ACCC Authentication Server (Bluestem) is having issues since around 8.50AM today. ACCC systems is investigating it.

    All new connections to Exchange 2010 are now going through the newly upgraded front-end server. We are planning on upgrading the second front-end server on Friday.

    U-Print system will be slow or unavailable at following date, time, and reasons

    • Date : May 12th, 2012
    • Time : 6PM - Midnight
    • Duration of Outage : 6 hours
    • Service Available : NO
    • Reasons :
      • Regular maintenance after semester.
      • Print Quota Reset to $15 for Entire Summer Semester

    All services (except for Blackboard) were up and running as of 11:59 - as planned. Unfortunately a blackboard dependency on another server delayed the BB start until 2:30am.

    ACCC wishes to thank the entire UIC community for its patience and understanding this weekend. Our SEL UPS is now fully repaired.

    On Saturday, May 12, 2012, starting at 4 pm CT, ACCC will perform a critical infrastructure upgrade. Most ACCC server-based services will be unavailable during that time. We estimate that services will be restored by 11:59 pm CT on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

    SEL 2265 has been re-opened for usage. Currently there is very limited software (Internet browsers, notepad, etc.) Software will continue to be installed all through out today and tomorrow morning.

    Maintenance is scheduled to occur for ACCC Managed Images. Details:

    • Geographic site: UIC-Chicago
    • Expected fallout: Software unavailable aside from generic browser

    We are upgrading the SEL 2265 lab to Windows 7. The imaging will be done before noon and all of the software that is normally installed in that lab should be reinstalled before the end of the day tomorrow Friday 5/11/12. Basic software and most of the smaller software should be installed before end of the day today 5/10.

    Maintenance is scheduled to occur for ACCC Managed Images. Details:

    SCCM which is used to deploy out most of our lab software will temporarily be unavailable to do some clean up and upgrade software packages.

    • Geographic site: UIC-Chicago ACCC Managed Labs Only
    • Timeline: Monday 4/30 11PM to 5/4 5PM
    • Expected fallout: Software normally deployed through sccm will not be pushed out
    Note that this does not affect any software that has already been installed. This will only affect ACCC Lab machines that are re-imaged after 11 pm today. Other departments that use our SCCM instance as child sites will NOT be affected.
