Do you want to improve your suburban dialin connection to the ADN?

Everyone

If you're a member of the UIC community, your ADN account already provides you with full access to Internet services, but if you live in the suburbs, you might want to consider using a commercial Internet access service to connect to the UIC ADN network. In many cases, they can provide faster and more complete connections than the Computer Center's suburban remote CMS-only lines dialup lines, and for reasonable cost: a service charge, the price of a local phone call, and (perhaps) an hourly access charge.

Randy Smith (wsmith@etc.com) maintains a list of Chicago area Internet service providers, giving their services, locations, and charges, and he explains how you can select the best provider for you. He posts the article Chicago Area Internet Providers List on a regular basis to the chi.general Usenet/Netnews newsgroup. (A recent copy of the article is available on INFORM; use the search keywords chicago.)
