[Note from the Ed. May 17, 2004. Meeting Maker has been replaced by UICalendar.]

Meeting Maker XP is a new service being offered by the Computer Center. Meeting Maker is a client/server-based group scheduling and calendar package that allows you to schedule and reschedule meetings, plan activities, keep a prioritized to-do list, and coordinate your schedule with others on the network. The client software can run in various operating environments, including Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh, DOS, and UNIXMAE, on networked computers connected via TCP/IP, AppleTalk, or Novell NetWare. An ADN-ii or SLIP connection is required. The Meeting Maker server is maintained by the Computer Center.

The cost of the client software is $50 per registered user.

Main features

  • easy user interface -- simple and consistent on Windows and Macintosh.
  • auto-pick feature -- quick dynamic search of invitees' calendars to find and suggest when all are free to meet.
  • automated tracking -- every time you accept or decline a meeting invitation, your calendar is automatically updated; it keeps track of any changes, notifying all attendees.
  • resource scheduler -- schedule resources such as meeting rooms and equipment (one login id and one resource per registered user).
  • proxy -- coworkers and assistants can be given authorization to view and/or update your calendar.
  • complete privacy -- details of your calendar activities are kept confidential; the program only suggests when you are available.
  • off-line calendars -- you can work off-line while disconnected from the network; automatic calendar data reconciliation takes place as soon as you reconnect to the network.
  • portability -- keep your calendar on your laptop or Powerbook, or export it to an Apple Newton, Casio BOSS, Wizard, or HP palmtop.
