Welcome to ACCC Online!

Have you ever wished that we could be at your desk helping you fix a problem? That we could see what the error message was? That we could show you the steps necessary to fix the problem? If so, ACCC Online is here to help.

How does it work?

While you are on the phone with one of our consultants and if your problem is easier to solve by looking at your machine or showing you how to perform a certain task, you will be asked to come to this WEB page and start an Online session.

The ACCC Online session includes a chat feature which allows you to communicate with the consultant via text. You can type in your questions and read the consultant's answers, and you can type answers to questions that the consultant may type.

Through this chat facility, the consultant will be able to do one or more of the following:

  1. Send you a URL that will automatically be opened in your web browser
  2. Be able to share access to your machine, with your permission. This will allow us to see what the problem is, show you how to fix the problem or help you in pretty much the same way we could if we were there, next to you. After you agree to have your desktop shared, a small file is downloaded to your machine automatically.
  3. Send you a file or get a file from you
  4. Use a Whiteboard feature for real-time collaboration

When can ACCC Online be used?

It can be used in pretty much all circumstances when you need help with your machine or application configuration, installation or troubleshooting as long as your network connection is working. You must be using Windows 98 or better.

How secure is ACCC Online?

When your machine is shared, the entire session is encrypted preventing information from being sent in the clear over the Internet.

While a small piece of software is downloaded to your machine the first time you use ACCC Online, your machine cannot be accessed by a consultant without a new session being established and a new encryption key being downloaded and shared between your machine and the ACCC consultant's machine.

The consultant may use your mouse, but you have dominant control over the mouse movements and can yank control if needed. You may also terminate the ACCC Online session at any time by closing the Chat window.

All shared sessions are recorded and kept for a period of 30 days.

Accessing ACCC Online behind a Firewall

If you are behind a firewall, you will need to enable port 8200 for outbound traffic. If your firewall includes a content or application-data scanning filter, you may need to enable a range of IP addresses for ACCC Online to work. Contact the ACCC for this information.
