Please check the availability of specific software before you make the reservation. All labs except BGRC 105B and BSB 4133, have ceiling-mounted LCD SuperVGA projectors, projection screens, dry-erase marker boards, and markers.
For SELE labs, the projector switch is in the box by the instructor's machine. To turn on the projector, open the box and flip the switch. If the box is locked, please stop by SELE 2267 and ask a consultant to unlock the box.
For questions or to cancel a request, please send an email to labreservation@uic.edu

Labs are reserved on a first-come first-served basis, but priority for reservations is given to UIC classes and instructional use. Additionally, certain departments have priority use of specific labs. When processing reservations, we will take into consideration class size, demand, and availability. You can not use an ACCC computer that you do not have reserved. You must have a confirmation e-mail with a ticket number in order to use an ACCC computer lab.
Semester-long reservations made before the end of the current semester are queued on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmations of the reservations are sent after the current semester is over. After the beginning of an academic term, requests for computer labs should be made at least one week in advance.
If two classes or events conflict (request the same lab at the same date and time), alternate computer labs will first be checked for availability. If no other labs are available, preference is given to sporadic or one-time only requests over requests to use labs repeatedly for the duration of the semester.
Any UIC faculty, staff, department, TA or RA (please provide instructor' name) can reserve labs. In the case of students, the instructor or advisor will be contacted to verify that the lab is needed. Graduate students who are teaching a course need to specify as such in the "Comments" section. Otherwise, we will assume you are either a TAs or RAs and a faculty/staff member's name and information is needed to confirm the reservation.
Undergraduate students and undergraduate student groups can not reserve computer labs without a faculty/staff sponsor, who must contact the Academic Computing and Communications Center on their behalf and who will serve as the contact person and responsible party.
Users in the lab must have a valid UIC netid and password to use all the features available on the machines in the labs. Guest access can be enabled for certain events. Please request this on the reservation form. Guest access does not allow printing.
All requests to reserve computer labs for classes or departments should be made at least one week in advance for best results. If the reservation is for a date within the same week, you can stop by the Client Services Office in 2267 SEL to make a last-minute reservation.
Labs can only be reserved during open hours. For a list of lab hours refer to: Lab hours and locations. If you would like to use a lab after off hours or on the weekend then a consultant will be required to be present (we can make exceptions when needed). You will be required to submit payment for the staffing of an ACCC consultant. The cost is $10.00 per hour per lab assistant for the duration of the reservation plus two additional hours. For example, a reservation for a computer lab from 6:00pm - 9:00pm will incur the following charge $30.00 + $20.00 = $50.00 total.
Demand for lab space is high. Not using a particular date? You must contact us in advance to cancel your reservation so that that space can be freed up for another class or group. Please email labreservation@uic.edu to cancel your request.
Reservations for the duration of the entire semester are not processed until the end of the previous semester. Academic Computing and Communications Center lab reservations should be done for classes that require significant hands-on participation for attendees or students in almost every class session. Classes that need an instructor's computer mainly for demonstration use are asked to reserve one of the multimedia classrooms. We reserve the right to cancel reservations if this policy is not followed.
At the end of the session, the instructor is responsible for logging out of all machines in the lab by clicking on the logout button on the desktop.
We recommend that all instructors familiarize themselves with the lab they will be using before the actual reserved time. If there are any problems or questions regarding lab use, please contact the Client Services Office directly in SELE 2267, by phone at (312) 413-0003, or by email at consult@uic.edu.
Many instructors have found it useful to have software and data files installed on our network servers for their students to use. The Academic Computing and Communications Center will work with faculty and departments to make such arrangements. Please send all requests to software@uic.edu.
Please refer to the following webpage for a list of ACCC guaranteed software: http://suggest.server.uic.edu/Software/Available.aspx. If you do NOT see software on this list then you MUST request it.
Deadlines for submitting requests for software installation:
You must submit your request before the deadline. You must provide all the required information at this time: software installation request form, proof of purchase/licenses, media and software installation instructions.
If you need software installed on the lab image for a one-time purpose (for example, a 2-day workshop) then the software and request should be submitted no less than 4 weeks prior to the first lab reservation for that class. The software will be removed once you are done.
An e-mail will be sent to you once the software is installed; you must then test the software to ensure everything is working as expected for class. Support for the software is the responsibility of the instructor or department who requested that the software be installed. Proof of purchase and/or license must be provided for as many copies as will be needed for the students in the class. We cannot install software without appropriate proof of licensing.
Note: These rules also apply to software brought to install locally on the lab computers by the instructors themselves.
Please fill out this software installation request form. At the end of the semester, all class files and software will be removed. If the software is needed an ongoing basis, please indicate this in your request.
ACCC computer labs can be reserved for special events, such as conferences or special training sessions. These reservations however are granted at the sole discretion of ACCC and must not interfere with the primary purpose of the labs. Such reservation requests are subject to the following guidelines:
