Forms-Option Groups

If you have a field in your table where there are only a few options, you can create an Option Group where the item desired merely needs to be clicked on to be selected. A good place to use it in our sample database is with the Payment Method field in the Transactions table, which has only three choices: cash, check, or credit card.

The Option Group Wizard will step you through the process of creating the Option Group, in which you choose the values assigned to each option, the field to which it is assigned, and how it looks. Click on each of the thumbnail images below to see the full size image.

Step 1 of the Wizard lets you enter the labels for each of the options.
Step 2 lets you set a default value if you desire.
Step 3 will assign values to each of the options. These values will be entered into the table.
Step 4 lets you save the value selected for later use, or you can store the value chosen in a field in the table.
In step 5, you select the type of buttons you want and their design.
Step 6 lets you create a label for the option group.

This is what the finished product looks like.
