Acrobat Components

  1. Adobe Reader (free): view/print PDF, copy text from PDF to word processor; includes web-browser plugin
  2. Acrobat (formerly known as Acrobat Exchange): Reader plus editing and annotation features, web-capture, scan-and-OCR tool, and ability to save, sign, and secure
  3. Acrobat Distiller: high-quality printer and PS-to-PDF converter; indispensable component of PDFmaker; includes the AdobePS printer driver
  4. PDFmaker: macros for Word and Powerpoint to create PDF while preserving document structure and other features
  5. Acrobat Catalog: creates indices for the search tool
  6. PDFwriter: simple printer to make PDF from any application (in Acrobat 5 only installed with Custom Install, no longer part of Acrobat 6)
  7. Paper Capture: plugin for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) within Acrobat; limited version of Acrobat Capture.

All of the above form the Acrobat suite.
