More Acrobat Components

Adobe has various other products in the Acrobat line, depending on the product version:

  1. Acrobat 6 Elements: volume-licensed (1000+) version of PDFmaker & Distiller
  2. Acrobat 5 Messenger: scan paper to PDF and email it
  3. Acrobat 5 Approval: Reader plus editing and annotation features and ability to save, sign, and secure, was called Business Tools in Acrobat 4
    (includes no PDF creation tools)
  4. Acrobat Capture: scan and OCR in large batches
  5. PDFmerchant: e-biz tool: sells PDF books online (uses Reader's web buy feature)
  6. Document Server: the engine behind Access Adobe. Converts PDF to HTML text (or to GIF/JPEG images for those without Reader).
  7. Document Server w. Reader Extensions: lets you define some editing/commenting rights for specific documents for users of plain Reader
  8. Acrobat Catalog Server: creates/manages indices for the search tool and allows large scale searches on PDF collections over web/intranet
