Libraries
and Templates
The need
may arise where you would wish to use elements of your Web
page or even the full page again and again. For this, you
can create a template, which is a permanent Web page from
which you can create new Web pages. The added advantage of
using a template is that it will update all Web pages based
off of it when you make changes to the template. If all you
need is to use a single element over and over, you can store
this in your library for your site.
Templates
If you
have already created a page, you can use the File|Save As
Template menu to save it. (Templates will have the extension
.dwt)

The template
is then saved within your site.
It is
CRUCIAL to note that, in order to properly use the
template, there are areas on the page that should be marked
as editable and uneditable. By default, the entire page starts
as uneditable. If you wish to make an area editable, click
the item in question and use the Modify|Templates|Mark Section
as Editable... menu. (You can also use [ALT]+[CTRL]+[W].)
If you do not have a specific area to mark editable, you can
create a new editable region by going to the Modify|Templates|New
Editable Region... menu. (You can also use [ALT]+[CTRL]+[V].)
In both cases, you give the region a name.

are two sample pics. The first is an editable region created
from scratch. The second is the navigation table from
this page made editable in a template. |

Libraries
You can
create a library item out of a single portion of your page
by dragging the item in question into the Library box, which
can be displayed from the View menu. As an example, we'll
highlight a navigation bar created at the top of a page, drag
it into the library, name it, then drag it into a new document.
