Sending Mail

The Return Address and SMTP server sections should already be filled out.  The "Domain to Add to Unqualified Addresses" option will put a domain of your choice (usually uic.edu) if you do not include one when addressing the message.  You can also select a default stationery and signature for every new message.  If you wish to keep a copy of messages you send in the outbox, the "Keep Copies" option should be checked.

Replying

These are options you can set for replies.

Attachments

Files you attach to an email have to be encoded to be sent out.  Since most email programs recognize MIME, use that option.  You can also set a default directory for attachments and option to delete them automatically.

Spell Checking

You can set different options for checking the spelling of message.  The final check box, "Check when message queued/sent" is the option to choose if you wish to spell check messages you create.

Date Display

options-date.jpg (86446 bytes)

This is a new feature to Eudora 4.x, allowing how the date is displayed in a mailbox.   The top part determines what time is displayed.  The lower part allows users to change what should be displayed based on the age of the message, which you can specify in the number of hours.  (24 hours is one day, 168 hours is one week)

Auto-Completion

New for Eudora 4.2, Auto-Completion will fill out the names of addressees when you begin typing the first few letters.
