Managing Your Email-Deleting Messages

If you have messages that you no longer need, you can drag them into the Trash folder in your Navigation Window. You can also click on the message and hit the [DELETE] key on your keyboard.

IMAP USER ALERT

Deleting messages using Eudora with IMAP is a little more tricky. When you transfer a message to the Trash folder or hit the [DELETE] key, the message will not be taken out of the Inbox. Rather, it will be given a red "X," indicating it is marked for deletion. To delete the message PERMANENTLY, you must click on the Purge button.

If you do not have the Purge button on your toolbar, these are the steps for placing it there.

  1. Right-click on the toolbar and choose "Customize..." from the shortcut menu.
  2. Switch to the Message section of buttons. You should see the Purge button there.
  3. Drag the Purge button to where you want it to be on your toolbar.
