PNG | Portable Network Graphics File

  • Native file format for Fireworks
  • Retains layers

JPEG | Joint Photographers Expert Group

  • "Lossy" compression (0 - 100)
  • Good for a image with a range of color tones
  • Mainly used with photographic type images
  • Flattened Image

GIF | Graphics Interchange Format (flattened image)

  • Limited to 256 colors (lossless)
  • Can Save transparent backgrounds
  • Best for images with solid colors, such as buttons and text
  • Flattened Image

jpg setting of: 3/10 (15K)

Mode

  • RGB | Red, Green, Blue: Best for projection
  • CMYK | Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black: Best for print
  • Grayscale | Only shades of gray availalable
