Graphics in PowerPoint 2000

The Drawing Toolbar

At the bottom of the screen is the Drawing toolbar. It gives you the ability to add graphics of your own creation.

This toolbar will allow you to draw images by hand, such as lines, arrows, squares, and circles. It will also allow you to change the fill color, border color, and allow for shadows in images. The buttons are listed below.

DRAW-gives you options to group images, move items forward or back in the slide, move or rotate images, and set AutoShape defaults
ROTATE-places green rotate handles at the corners of an image, allowing you to rotate it <click here for a video demo> (646K)
AUTOSHAPES-a series of premade shapes you can use in your presentation (more details in the next section)
LINE-draws a line when you click-and-drag (use the [SHIFT] button while dragging to lock the angle of the line
ARROW-draws a line when you click-and-drag
RECTANGLE-draws a rectangle when you click-and-drag (use the [SHIFT] button while dragging to create a square
OVAL-draws an oval when you click-and-drag (use the [SHIFT] button while dragging to create a circle
TEXT BOX-draw a text box anywhere on the screen
WORDART-allows you to make text into fancy graphics
CLIPART-insert ClipArt images into your presentation
FILL COLOR-fills in the drawn image with the color selected
LINE COLOR-determines the color of a line or the border around an image
TEXT COLOR-determines the color of text
LINE STYLE-lets you choose the thickness and style of the line
DASH STYLE-lets you make various dashed line styles
ARROW STYLE-determines the look and type of arrows
SHADOW-allows you to give images a shadow and format that shadow
3D-allows you to give images a 3D look and format it
