Working with Slides

Numbered and Bulleted Lists

When you create a bulleted list, the computer formats the fonts, styles, and the type of bullet for each point in the style of the background template. However, you have the ability to change the type of bullet used, or even turn them off. Look at the following example:

Sample bulleted list

To change the bullets, you must first select the list. By clicking inside the list, then hitting the [ESC] key on the keyboard, you can select the list. Then, go to the Format|Bullets and Numbering menu. You can use any of the bullets shown, or you can use the Character... button to choose any bullet you want. (You could even use a picture for a bullet.)

Bullets and Numbering Dialog box

If you've ever worked in Microsoft Word, this dialog box should look familiar. You can take the bullet of your choice and size it to whatever percentage of the text you like. You can also change the color.

New to PowerPoint 2000 is the use of numbered lists. You can click on the Numbered tab to use different kinds of number formats. It should be noted you can also highlight the text you wish to make numbered or bulleted and use the respective buttons in the Formatting toolbar. Bulleted and Numbered List Buttons
