UIC
Web Servers
At UIC,
there are two main Web servers to hold pages, both UNIX-based
servers.
TIGGER
- is used to house class and department Web sites, as well
as personal sites for faculty and staff
ICARUS
- is used to house personal sites for students
To access
Web pages at each of these possible locations, use the following:
For
Class sites:
http://www.uic.edu/classes/course/course-rubric
(For example: http://www.uic.edu/classes/bw/bw101)
For Department
sites:
http://www.uic.edu/depts/department-name
(For example: http://www.uic.edu/depts/accc)
For Faculty
and Staff personal pages:
http://www.uic.edu/~netid
(For example: http://www.uic.edu/~slbronkowitz)
For Student
personal pages:
http://www2.uic.edu/~netid
(For example: http://www2.uic.edu/~sbronk3)
It should
be noted that some departments may have their own Web servers
for use within the department. Also, if you are the instructor
for a class, you may wish to use Blackboard CourseInfo for
your class, which is specifically designed for web-based communication
and information exchange between the instructor and their
students. (Please go to <http://www.accc.uic.edu/itl/blackboard>
for more information.)
