Word 2000 and HTML

Inserting Hyperlinks

Like many applications of today, Word 2000 is heavily integrated with the Internet. In fact, you can use Word 2000 in several different ways to combine your documents with the WWW.

One of the easiest ways is with hyperlinks. A hyperlink allows you to click to a Web page of your choosing. By default, when you type a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) into Word 2000, it automatically converts it to a hyperlink. Clicking on the hyperlink will automatically launch your default Web browser and take you to the place in question. <Click here to see a video demo of this in action.> (139K)

If you wish to take an existing piece of text and convert that to a hyperlink, select the text and choose the Insert Hyperlink button on the Standard toolbar. The following dialog box will then open.

You can choose from a list of recent files, browsed pages, or previously inserted links. Of course, you can always type the URL in yourself.
