Word
2000 and HTML
Saving as HTML
You can
take any Word document and save is as an HTML file. HTML is
the standard used for Web pages. If you go to your File Menu
and choose Save As Web Page, you can save your document for
use on the Web

Before clicking on Save, you should go under the Tools button
at the upper-right side of the box and choose Web Options...

The General
tab lets you disable features not supported by certain browsers.
It is recommended you set it for Internet Explorer 4.0 and
Netscape Navigator 4.0. The second section allows you to use
Cascading Style Sheets with your document.

If you
have a lot of graphics or outside files included with the
presentation, creating a folder to hold these support files
will make transferring any files easier. The name of the folder
will be the same as the name of the original presentation.
You can turn off the option of long file names if your Web
server does not support them. You can also have Word update
the links when you save the file.

If you
have an audience that might use older browsers, you may wish
to leave the top two options off. VML (Vector Markup Language)
is a VERY new method for describing graphics in text format.
Also very new technology is PNG, (Portable Network Graphics)
which allow smaller-sized graphics with more colors. These
only work with the latest browsers. (IE 5.0 or later) You
can set the target monitor to cater to what your audience
might use. Typically, a 640x480 display at 96 pixels per inch
will work nicely.

The encoding
section works for modifying the presentation for browsers
using other languages.
