Word 2000 Introduction

Spell Check Dialog Box

The most popular method of checking your spelling still remains the Spelling and Grammar dialog box under the Tools menu. There is also a toolbar button for the spell check. (You can also hit [F7] on your keyboard.) In the spell check, users have the ability to check the spelling of the entire document or a selected piece of text. When an unfamiliar word comes up, the spell check allows the user to ignore that word, change it, or even add it to a user dictionary. Most spell checks these days will also look for double-word errors and punctuation errors related to the spelling of documents. Here is a sample Spell Check dialog box.

You can also check for proper grammar in your document. When flagged, these errors will appear in green.
