Do You Need AntiVirus Software?
|
| |
There is disagreement within the Mac community about whether Mac users need to run antivirus software. All agree that your chance of getting a Mac virus is low; there hasn't been one in years. But as I see it, there are three valid reasons to use an antivirus on a Mac:
- To catch the next Mac virus when it does come.
- To be a good netizen and catch Windows viruses so you don't infect your friends.
- To protect yourself from viruses that infect Word macros and jpeg graphic files and the like; these do infect Macs.
Are they good enough reasons? I think so. Some other people don't.
