UNIX Basic Operating System Support

  • Installation, configuration, customization and technical support of operating systems and various vendor packages.
  • Reliability monitoring automation
  • Performance monitoring, tuning and capacity planning
  • Userid and security administration
  • Client technical support and problem resolution

UNIX Data Management

  • Disk space allocation and administration
  • Tape management
  • File backup, archival and disaster recovery
  • ADSM client/server workstation backup system

UNIX Network Connectivity

  • TCP/IP services to the UIC network and the Internet
  • SNA services to AISS and the Library
 
     
Network Services
 
  • Domain Name Service for domain UIC.EDU
  • IBM Tivoli Storage Manager for workstation backups
  • POP and IMAP email service for pine, Eudora, and WebMail clients
  • sending and receiving incoming email
  • LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) for directory and account listings.
  • UICalendar Oracle Calendar scheduling and calendar service
