  1. CODES, STANDARDS, REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES

    1. Electrical and building codes, standards and guidelines govern the installation practices and materials used in the construction of telecommunications facilities.


    2. Equipment and material used at UIC shall be Underwriters' Laboratories (UL) or Canadian Standards Association (C.S.A.) listed and labeled.


    3. The latest editions and amendments of the following codes, standards and guidelines are minimum requirements:


      1. Municipal Code of Chicago Relating to Electrical Inspection (City of Chicago Electrical Code).

      5. ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-A-2 Corrections and Additions to TIA/EIA-568-A-2.


      6. ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-A-3 Addendum No. 3 to TIA/EIA-568-A.


      7. ANSI/TIA/EIA-569-A - Commercial Building Standard for Telecommunications Pathways and Spaces.

      18. Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Part 68 - FCC Rules provides regulations for connecting premises cabling and customer-provided equipment to the regulated networks.


      19. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as it relates to telecommunications is covered in "Title IV: Telecommunications," which covers the functionality of devices for hearing and speech impaired individuals and in "Appendix B. Section 4.3.1: Telephones," which covers accessibility to telephones and communications devices by the physically impaired.
