Jun 21 2001 - Tigger will be unavailable starting this Saturday (6/23) at 8pm and ending no earlier than Sunday morning 2AM. Last weekend's attempt to upgrade to AIX 4.3 was not successful. We are now planning a two stage upgrade with more system preparation this Saturday, followed by another upgrade attempt, likely be scheduled on July 21st.

The "www.uic.edu" web pages will still work, generally, during the upgrade, but the following services will not be available: * Email boxes based on tigger (whether from pine, Eudora or WebMail) * Most Web pages that involve form submission (CGI) * The "www.uic.edu" search engine capabilities * FTP access for updating any www.uic.edu web pages * Personal web pages stored on tigger

Jun 16 2001 - Tigger will not be available starting this Saturday night, June 16, 2001, at 8pm and ending no earlier than Sunday morning 2am. We will be attempting to upgrade to AIX version 4.3 in preparation for new hardware that will be arriving this summer.

The www.uic.edu Web pages will still work, generally, during the upgrade, but the following services will not be available:

• Email mailboxes on tigger (whether from pine, Eudora or WebMail)
• Most Web pages that involve form submission (CGI)
• The SearchUIC search engine capabilities
• FTP access for updating any www.uic.edu Web pages

Jun 07 2001 - Webmail server is down for emergency maintenance. It is expected to be down until 10AM.

Jun 02 2001 - On Friday, June 1, we experienced severe disruption to the mail servers that provide outbound mail service for all Eudora/Outlook/Netscape users and for everyone who receives their email on Tigger. This has led to some people getting duplicate copies of their mail; we apologise for this. Every effort was made to make sure no messages were lost, however, if you sent a critical piece of email, we urge you to confirm it was received. The email system should be functioning normally now.
