Aug 31 2001 - Is there a Network problem at UIC? We're getting calls from the Chicago campus that folks cannot get connected to the AITS Mainframe (uicmvsa.aiss.uic.edu) and our Core Applications (ECOS, ESTR, PCard.) The calls were coming in pretty furious, but now things have calmed down. Just want to check if you all experienced a network problem. Thank you. Aug 31 2001 - Please let me know when we can use our computers via internet when your router problem is corrected. They are located in 1900 SSB(all computers). I work in systems OBA/OBFS and am responsible for their network. Thanks, Marshall Story

Aug 31 2001 - Jodi - We had a switch module lock up on a Cisco Catalyst 5500 that runs a ton of connections on the East Campus. We found the problem and fixed it, but it was such an oddball lockup that it took a little time, especially since this switch is on the East campus. Sorry for the inconvenience. The last set of scans were disappointing in their usefulness regarding detecting the bug used to exploit the Code Red worm. I have new checks for Code Red 1/2 that I am currently running so expect to see more traffic coming from acccscan.cc.uic.edu.

Aug 01 2001 - On Wednesday, August 1, we will take the Blackboard CourseInfo server down to upgrade it to version 5.5 and to perform associated maintenance tasks. The server is scheduled to be down from 4 PM until midnight.
